A Gorgeous Crocheted Turquoise Necklace

Beautiful work, I wish I could do this. She manages to work soft elements with stone in a way that makes total sense. I love contrasts, and this contrast of texture is delicious! Bravo!

An Earth Day bag, awwww!

Am going to have to brush up on Tunisian crochet, but loved the darling bag. I'm looking at my huge piles of tangled yarn, offered my daughter a dollar a skein to wind up all of them into balls. Not one big huge ball, but one per skein. hah! I need to make a big wall hanging out of all of my odds and ends, I think it would be a really cool thing. I'll make sure I show you if I do.

My Crocheted Tropical Flowers with Jazzy Details!

This is one I just finished, and I must say it was a blast to design. I love high contrast work, both in crochet and painting, and this one fits the bill: the center is all speckled and black and yellow, mimicking the center of a poppy or some such. Generally they look all summery and bold, not quite hibiscus, not quite poppy, but something imaginary in between. Besides which, the pattern is "modular" in that you choose your centers, choose your petals, just like Build A Bear or something. Yeah!
I tossed in my little nylon string purse, too, just the size you need for an iphone. An iphone purse with the biggest sassiest flowers on it you ever ever saw!
You can see the pattern at this etsy listing , and thanks for looking!

A new crocheted Goldfish Edging and my Darling Betta!

I just finished a little bitty pattern, perfect for a burp cloth. Preferably a blue burp cloth, with those orange goldfish swimming along the edges, too much cuteness!
I finally worked out my Betta Fish applique, too, only it's a little different in fin shape from the typical betta. But a fun one nevertheless, you can see the fish pattern which includes both at my Etsy Crochet Store

Q: When does Crochet Look like Watercolor?

Answer: when it's done by a talented freeform crochet artist. Beautiful, beautiful...this is an example of a recent show of  freeform crochet at the Lion Brand Yarn Studio in New York. I believe this piece was by Margaret Hubert.

I'm sticking with my humble flowers and animals, but do they ever make me happy. Summer's coming up and that always means itchy hands making tiny bags, necklaces, whatever they can make while driving and driving. Catch the bug! Crochet is such a versatile medium, an antidote to the blahs and the artistic equivalent of a worry stone. To me, at least.

Blessings and greetings to all, and if you'd like to see my latest Treasury of other cheery crochet pattern collections -- all original designs by me -- check out the links below:

Above are the skeins that are shuffling along after me, trying to trip me up and get me to use them!! I'm so sick I dream up crochet patterns while I'm driving or am in church! That is just ...pitiful, and evidence of a very sad fantasy life: BUT I'M NUTS OVER THIS STUFF!! I can't stop crocheting, I go on jags like this, and there aren't any drugs involved. You guys who have got it bad like me know what I'm talking about.

Coming up soon are some irresistible designs, baby items, travel items, and beach items.  I've just got to get them out of my head, through a crochet hook and down on paper.
If you want to see what obsessed me all last fall and winter, check out
