Free Pom Pom pattern....a good day for yarn!

I've been sitting on this one for a whitle, I found a great baby weight yarn which actually comes in lots of non-baby pastels, I can't believe it!! It's Hobby Lobby's own brand "I Love This Yarn" and it's acrylic. Looks like baby yarn in every way, but comes in lots of cool browns, blues, interesting multis, ahhhh! Which to me means interesting color combos for a baby hat that looks, I don't know, South American or something?? Help me out here...I do like the stripes and that notchy long stitch that makes it look like a knit cap. A small hook and light yarn helps in that regard, too. Anyway, here's the etsy item, and click hereto get the instructions on making a simple baby pom pom. One suggestion: trim your pom pom over a box or a bag, it helps! Ha!

Chunky Yarn so Yummy you could Gobble it!

I finished a new pattern today! I have at least 9 or 10 more that are ready to write up, but I'm tweaking, dilly-dallying, what's my problem?
This one's awesome, it's so soft and yummy when done in that "Baby Bee" Hushabye Ombre yarn, in the color "Softly", half cotton and half acrylic. Who names a color "Softly?" And why?

I don't know why, I just love the cap and also the flower done in the same pastel multi. I think the colors are just a bit more muted than most brands...or maybe it's actually the texture I just love. Whatever, it is, you can see what's been obsessing me.

Oh, wow, I set the bees and flowers aside to finish this pattern first. It was such a happy project (not that the bees and flowers weren't) I couldn't resist. And when stuffed, these little guys are so shlumpy and poseable, I LOVE them!! Shannon posed them with little horns so they looked like little devils. Only with innocent eyes. Ha!! Put DOWN the hook, Sue

I admit I've been obsessed lately;

 Whenever we go on a road trip I crochet nonstop. 

I was annoyed the other day in a waiting room when an, ahem, older gentleman looked at me and loudly asked his wife, "What's she doing?". The wife said, "Knitting or crocheting, I don't know." He looked again, sourly, at me and said "Some people just can't sit still." Exactly right! And look what I've been working on! My bugs!!! I'm so happy, I have a little butterfly I think I'll include in this pattern set, too. You'll notice one of the bees has flatter wings which lay flat....there's another option in which the wings sit up and attach to the back (see the bee in the center of the picture. And, of course a ladybug (it still needs some embroidery, something seems to be missing. Hah!) 

Anyhoo, this pattern set, along with the Flower Power flowers which match the bugs, will be put together into a pattern and put on my etsy store in the next couple of days. Hopefully I'll put another free pattern on this blog at the same time.

Baby Bowler Hat with Flowers, not done yet. Boo Hoo!

I had to show you my baby bowler hat. I can't seem to finish the pattern! There's something wrong, just don't know what it is. I'll figure it out, let me know your ideas if you like. The best thing about the pattern is the little flower pattern that comes with it; every hat needs funky flowers to sew on, and these are simple and jazzy. Nice and tight, lots of edgings with contrast, whew.
